What causes wet basements?

Wet basements are caused
by water infiltration through basement walls and floors. First, understand
the types of water sources:
We have water table and
surface water. Water table is the natural
level of the underground water in your area.
Surface water includes all other water that occurs due to run off,
melting snow, normal rain and thunderstorms.

| Ultimately, surface water becomes
water table. It’s during this process that surface water enters your
home. This can occur through cracks in the foundation walls, seepage
between the footing and the foundation wall, or plugged up exterior
drains causing hydrostatic pressure in the walls and deterioration of
the foundation itself. |

Once surface water reaches
the water table during heavy rains, the water table rises and seeps up
through cracks in the basement floor.
What can Davco do to make my basement
dry?
Davco professionals can address all of the
above problems by installing an interior perimeter drain system. This
system not only intercepts rising water from the water table below the
floor, but also stops the seepage that may occur at other points in the
structure. In addition, we repair and waterproof the interior foundation
walls using the most up-to-date products and methods available.
Some waterproofing
contractors install plastic sheeting over the problem foundation walls
causing the water to flow down behind the sheet to a drain system. This
procedure does not correct the defective problem - it only masks it - and
the wall continues to deteriorate behind the sheeting.
If necessary, Davco provides complete
foundation replacement in extreme cases. We also address cracks
and deteriorated sections by replacing defective areas as needed and
waterproofing the interior basement walls using a cement waterproof coating.
With the combination of the
drain system and the replacement of defective areas plus repairs to all
defects followed by a waterproofing coating, Davco solves all of your
