The level of complexity involved in masonry work varies from laying a
simple masonry wall to installing an ornate exterior or high-rise
building. Whether you are working with brick,
block, tile, terra-cotta, or
stone, and regardless of the level of
craftsmanship involved, the skill and precision
of the mason can
never be replaced by
machines.
Davco Construction will never settle for second best so why should you.
Like nearly all building materials, masonry surfaces can be painted to
protect or just to change the appearance and color of the surface.
Paintable masonry materials include stucco, cinder block, poured concrete,
brick, terrazzo and cement block.
While many "conventional" paints will perform well over masonry, the
special nature of these substances must be taken into account before
recommending a paint-with the proper surface preparation as the key.
In general, masonry substrates tend to be more stable than wood
substrates. Wood expands and contracts with changes in weather whereas
masonry remains fairly constant except under the most severe conditions. As a result, painted masonry can provide years of beauty and
protection.
